NNPC/MPN Undergraduate Scholarship Programme 2013/2014(http://www.nnpcmpn.com.ng/)

As part of support to educational development and human capacity building, Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), operator of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)/MPN Joint Venture awards annual scholarships to qualified undergraduate students in Nigerian Universities.
2013/2014 NNPC / MPN Undergraduate Scholarship Programme

Applications for the NNPC/MPN Undergraduate National Scholarship Awards are based on the following criteria:

Geographical Coverage

Awards will be made to qualified and suitable students who are currently admitted in Nigerian Universities irrespective of state of origin including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Disciplines
Applications in the following list of approved disciplines are considered:
  1. Petroleum Engineering
  2. Chemical Engineering
  3. Mechanical Engineering
  4. Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  5. Civil Engineering
  6. Geology/Geophysics
  7. Medicine (MBBS Only)
  8. Agricultural Science (and related fields)
  9. Computer Science
Eligibility
  • Candidates must be holders of the SSCE or its equivalent with at least six subjects passed at a sitting
  • Dependants of employees of Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited, Mobil Oil Nigeria plc and Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited are not eligible for this scholarship
  • Applicants must be registered full-time undergraduates in their 1St or 2nd year of study in any accredited Nigerian University
  • Students who are currently on similar scholarship awards from other oil and gas companies should not apply

Shortlisted candidates will be required to upload the following documents along with their application in the application portal:
  • Current University Identity Card
  • Current Passport Photograph
  • Evidence of State of Origin obtained from the appropriate
  • Local Government Area and duly signed by the Chairman or Secretary.
  • Evidence of admission into a Nigerian University
  • Evidence of current year of study
  • Evidence of SSCE result or its equivalent

Names of short-listed candidates for the qualifying test will be published in National Dailies. The candidates will also be contacted with details of the qualifying test via SMS text and email

ATIKU ABUBAKAR SPECIAL SCHOLARSHIP OFFER 2013 (scholarship@atiku.org)

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is offering one undergraduate/postgraduate scholarship to Nigerian students.
The scholarship is tenable in Nigeria and overseas, and will reasonably cover tuition and board.

Entrants must be Nigerian citizens who are currently undergoing, or have been admitted into, a course of study at undergraduate or postgraduate level at a government-approved institution of learning within or outside Nigeria.
To qualify for consideration for the scholarship applicants should submit an essay on the topic:
More Learning to More People: How can Nigeria be more innovative in bridging its literacy and skills gap? 
Entries must be in English, and be between 2,000 and 5,000 words.
All essays should be submitted on or before August 31, 2013.
It will be the responsibility of applicants to reasonably prove that they possess valid letters or offers of admission, or other evidence of studentship. Successful candidates who are unable to prove this will have their scholarship offers revoked.
Entrants must avoid plagiarism and should be prepared to present themselves for an oral defence of their work (should the need arise). Plagiarism will result in instant disqualification of the affected entry.
Essays will be judged for grammar, clarity, coherence and a focus on solutions. (While it is important to highlight the problems and challenges of education in Nigeria, the essay should primarily focus on innovative problem-solving)
Only one scholarship will be awarded. There will however be consolation prizes for up to two other entrants.
The Judges’ decision is final and will not be subject to appeal or litigation.

ESSAY FORMAT GUIDELINES

Essays, containing between 2,000 and 5,000 words, should be emailed as Microsoft Word documents to scholarship@atiku.org
The first page of the essay document should include the following:
Entrants Name & Date of Birth
Entrants Contact Details (Valid email address and phone number)
Entrants Institution (with full institution address included), Course of Study, Year of Entry, and Student Number (Also specifying whether Undergraduate or Postgraduate)
Essays should be in a legible font (font size 12); 1.5-spaced or double-spaced
All pages should be properly numbered.
